I came up with this line in the act of building a fire in our backyard. I have a big steel ring and love a good fire. It was a joke between my wife, then girlfriend at the time, but grew into a song. The verses are about fall, change, reflection, and paint a picture of small town Texas heading into winter.

The leaves are down in our hometown, blowing down the street like clowns playing in the wind. Football games and daisy chains, colored paper dreams, how the seasons change. Stack it up and see what catches, we've been saving up our matches just to watch them burn. I hope this season is a cold one, so we can burn a bold one, a love with no doubt.
It's the first fire of the season, we don't need a reason to let it all hang out. So lay it all on the line and let it burn in it's own time, just like we forgot.
