about
I came up with this line in the act of building a fire in our backyard. I have a big steel ring and love a good fire. It was a joke between my wife, then girlfriend at the time, but grew into a song. The verses are about fall, change, reflection, and paint a picture of small town Texas heading into winter.
lyrics
The leaves are down in our hometown, blowing down the street like clowns playing in the wind. Football games and daisy chains, colored paper dreams, how the seasons change. Stack it up and see what catches, we've been saving up our matches just to watch them burn. I hope this season is a cold one, so we can burn a bold one, a love with no doubt.
It's the first fire of the season, we don't need a reason to let it all hang out. So lay it all on the line and let it burn in it's own time, just like we forgot.
You know I'd be there if I could, I'm out of town because the work is good and the money pays. And Christmas time is on the way and junior wants one of everything and everything. I'll be there before you know it and this love I have I'll show it to you on and on. So hold on tight for a bumpy ride and when we land we'll land just right, we're gonna be okay we're gonna be alright.
